Days 14/15: Bronx Zoo

Saturday morning, bright and early, we got up with Jeff's parents and went to the Bronx Zoo.  We got to the zoo at 8:45 am, when it doesn't open til 10.  We were first in line to park, as well as first to get into the zoo.  It was awesome!  The zoo was so big and so fun.  The worst part was the 80 degree weather with 80% humidity!

The butterfly garden was so cool!  We were the first and only ones in there.  It was fun to be able to walk around and see it to ourselves.

We love the zoo!  (This is an awful picture!  Haha, we are not very photogenic!)

Jeff and his parents.  This was the best part of the whole day.  We sat through an 8 min video of conservation in the Congo.  After the video was over, the screen went up and curtains opened to the gorilla exhibit.  There were about 20 gorillas in a huge area!  It was amazing!  We just sat there in amazement.  I can't even explain to you how cool it was.  I love gorillas!

Our favorite part of the Hoggle Zoo is the elephants (well the baby elephant), but at the Bronx zoo the elephants were not very cool.  You can only see them from the Monorail and you drive past them for only about 20 secs.  It was disappointing.
We loved our visit to the Bronx Zoo!

Day 13

Here is a link to the Greenwich times, which is better pictures of the graduation, and the graduates... if anyone is interested.
Graduation
Today was a boring day, again!  But we might be going to the Bronx Zoo tomorrow, so I will post lots of pictures!

Is it a wedding, or graduation?

Day 12:  Today is the big day that all of Greenwich Academy has been waiting for (that is that school Jeff is working for.)  Today is graduation.  Let me tell you, these rich folk do NOT live like you and I.  Graduation is a very big deal where they spend a lot of money.  Each of the graduates (all girls) buys a wedding  dress to wear as they walk.  I tried to get pictures, but they are a little far away.  If you look close, you can see a girl in a white dress, holding a yellow rose.  Apparently, as they get their diploma, they hand over their single yellow rose and get a bouquet.  So weird.

It is also raining, so they added the tent over the walk way, so that the girls don't get wet.  Ridiculous, if you ask me.  But then again, if you are spending 10,000 dollars on a dress, you don't want it to get wet.  (Yeah, that is what they spent on those dresses! Just imagine their actual wedding...)  Oh and get this, Tom Brokaw is the main speaker.  What a different world they live in!

Day 11

Day 11 in Greenwich.... absolutely nothing has happened the last two days.  I have been cooped up in the apartment attempting to prepare for the classroom next year.  Jeff has been working like a maniac because graduation is on Thursday (and graduation here is a BIG deal!)  I will post all about that little shin-dig.  I have found my role model for teaching though!  She does everything I want to do in my classroom.  For any of my teacher friends, check out her blog: 3rd grade thoughts
She does daily 5, WBT, and the clip chart, as well as many other things that I really like.  Anyway, I wanted to post today (plus I wanted that link so I could remember which pin it was that I really liked!)
See ya lata!

Day 5: Fishing

Jeff went fishing with his boss and some co-workers on Thursday last week. Jeff is not a huge fan of fishing, but since it was with his boss he thought he ought to go.  They went to the Long Island sound and had a good time.  This is what Jeff caught:

25 pounds, 38 inches long!  Pretty big sucker!  He took lots of pictures for proof (because he knew his dad would never believe him!)

They didn't have a cooler big enough!
Jeff's boss, Scott, said he would take it home and fillet it, because Jeff is not keen on that type of thing.  So that night Scott put it on his deck and cut the thing open.  (We live in the apartment that is attached to Scott's house so we were able to stand out on the deck and watch... well for some of it!  My stomach is too queasy for that.)  While he was cutting it open his 7 year old daughter came over and was so disgusted by the fish! Scott held it up and had his daughter stand next to it.  She was just a little bit taller than the fish!  I love my fisherman!

Days: 5, 6, 7, & 8

Sorry I was a slacker this weekend!  It was so busy!  We went to Jeff's parents house for the weekend and spent a lot of time with his family.  His brother and soon to be wife came up and we hung out with them, as well as his other brother and his wife and their 18 month old.  I don't have pictures to post yet (Jeff took the camera to work) but I will be sure to do that tonight or tomorrow!

For now I am working on classroom stuff (YAY) and just hanging out!  I am so grateful for Netflix and the fact that they just added Dawson's Creek!  I love the 90's!

Day 4: Downtown Greenwich

Day 4:  You hear "Downtown Greenwich" and think cute little downtown with boutique shops and restaurants, right?  Well, that's what I thought, but I was oh so wrong.  Downtown Greenwich is a mini Madison Ave. or 5th Ave in Manhattan.  Let me show you what I mean.
These are the stores you find on the quaint little street, Greenwich ave.  I mean everyone can afford a stop at Tiffany & Co., right?  WRONG!
And these are the buildings.... old and beautiful!
Those are the only pictures I got.  I was in a rush, in and out of CVS pharmacy (well, after 30 mins of looks for dramamine, with no help with the RUDE employees, might I add.)  Jeff is going fishing tonight, (with his boss, he totally felt pressured, so I got a promise of a pedicure because he felt bad leaving me!) so I might take advantage of the car again and go find the beach!
Well, that's all for now!

Day 3: Anniversary Overview

Day 3:  As yesterday was our anniversary, Jeff's mom let us borrow her car for the week so we could go out on a date.  We took advantage of that and headed out to White Plains, NY, which is about 20 minutes from us.  It was a crazy drive though!  NYC traffic is not only in NYC, if you know what I mean!  We were headed for the Cheesecake Factory, but never found it so we ended up at P.F. Changs's.

The real reason to go to P.F. Chang's.... the Great Wall of Chocolate!! SO GOOD!!!!!!!
And now on to the rest of my day... reading "The Book Thief."  Just bought it and I am so excited to start!

Day 2: Wedded Bliss

Day 2:  Today marks our 2 year anniversary!  Can you believe it?  It's been 2 years!

And it's been 6 years (almost) since we met and became friends in Logan!  I am so glad I chose to attend USU and had the opportunity to meet my wonderful husband Jeff! I love you!

Adventures on Greenwich: Day 1

Day 1:  I am going to try (key word being try) to blog everyday while here in
Greenwich Connecticut.  This is going to be an adventure in our lives and I want to remember every moment of it!  We got here late last night (after my 4 hour red eye flight, and 3 hours in the car) and it is just as small as Jeff said it was.  Here are a few pictures to help you understand what we mean when we say "studio apartment".

View from the front door to the left.  There is not much storage, that is why it looks messy.  That is going to drive me nuts.  Oh, and the TV is there just for looks.  It is not connected to anything!  Oh and the bed is in the corner.  It's a full, which is pretty small for Jeff and I.  But we survived our first night there!

View from the front door straight ahead (kitchen and bathroom).  As you can see, there is no oven.  The white door under the stove/sink is our fridge!  It's tiny! Hopefully that will aide in our weight-loss goals :)

Front door... yep, it's that small, but at least it is cute!
View from the front door (at least it is gorgeous out the windows!)

The apartment is attached to the facility managers house, and they asked us over for dinner tonight, so that should be fun.  For those of you who don't know, Jeff is doing an internship here as a facility manager at Greenwich Academy, an all girls private school.  A few things to put into perspective how rich this neighborhood is: the preschool tuition for the school is about $30,000 a year, and Kathy Lee Gifford's daughters go to school here.  As soon as we go on our first bike ride around the neighborhood, I will post pictures of the homes.  They are huge and gorgeous!

We have no car, and a tiny fridge, it's going to be an adventure!
